A Sono-Hyster-WHAT-ogram?

Today I had the Sonohysterogram. The following are the details of that and perhaps some should turn away now! Basically they want to inspect the uterus to ensure that there is no abnormality that may cause issues with getting pregnant like cysts, tears etc. In order to get a good look at the uterine walls they need to inflate the uterus using a small amount of saline solution. This was not fun. Let me repeat, this was NOT FUN! Lol it was awkward and crampy and common ladies, we all know any inspection of the lady parts is not pleasant. Though, it was pretty trippy to watch on the monitor as they inflated it and the best part was when the doctor said in his thick Russian accent “What a beautiful uterus!” I was not sure whether to say thank you or ask him out for a second date. I will take his compliment as I passed the final baby test! My body is perfect in every way to host a surro baby. Next step is the legal contracts. A friend of mine who is also in the beginning steps of being a surrogate is going through a different agency and they actually have her do all the lab work prior to selecting a Intended Parents. I am thinking this would be the more efficient route to take because every lab, every ultrasound, every test I think to myself “what if I fail, what if something is wrong” and not only will I be letting myself down but I will be breaking my IP’s hearts who will have to go on the daunting mission of finding another surrogate (who, lets face it, will never be as awesome as I am with this here perfect uterus!) Thankfully, I am a baby factory and I have passed everything.  Well that is all the news I have for now! Hopefully there will be another update soon!

Mock Cycle Update

So I am, again, a little late on the posting an update.  We have just been so busy! So as I mentioned before, I began my “Mock Cycle” with daily estrogen pills. This was to last a month and slowly adding an extra estrogen pill each day. After the first week I was scheduled for an ultrasound just to check the progress and make sure there were no negative responses. Over the month, the estrogen pills were supposed to thicken my uterus to an 8. After the first week my uterus was at an 11! So woohoo! A big shout out to my lady parts for being an overachiever! The San Diego fertility clinic was impressed. They told me to keep taking the estrogen but not to increase the pills (I was currently taking 3 pills a day) and then begin to take one Progesterone pill daily for 10 days.  Yesterday was my last day with progesterone.  Next step is to start with the birth control pills to start syncing my cycle with the egg donor. Extra Ordinary Conceptions is currently working on the legal contract. Once that is done then I think we will be ready to get preggers!

We have told the majority of our families and most have had positive responses and are supportive. Some are just ignoring it, I think they are hoping it’s a phase and something we are not taking seriously. I still have not told my dad, not because I’m worried but just because we have not had the time to get together yet,  I am sure he will be supportive. I have given him enough shocks and heart attacks over the years I’m sure this will be pleasant compared to those haha! However, I will say, the response from my friends and even just  acquaintances have been amazing! They are so supportive! they respect and appreciate why I am doing this. Even my dear nana has been fabulous about it. It has been great talking openly about it to her in just casual conversation.

It has been very quiet between the IP’s and I. But I just think we are all just waiting, impatiently, to get going here!
